Dragonfly Rest Stop

Dragonfly Rest Stop

Yesterday in the garden, I noticed this pretty dragonfly hovering around my waterlily bowl. He finally stopped to rest on an old tomato cage frame. I’ve also seen some larger bright orange dragonflies in my nearby pond, but have not been able to get a clear photo yet. Stay tuned.

It is amazing what shows up and hangs out in your garden, once you stop using pesticides. I have not used any for over 8 years now.

Did you know dragonflies eat mosquitos? Even though I have ponds, the mosquitos are not out of control. Nature has a way of keeping everything in balance. The dragonflies, bees, wasps, green lizards, ladybugs and birds are welcome in my garden. My own private eco-system, albeit a messy one at times.

Hello, I found you on Blotanical and came over to read your great blog. I started with the newest and have worked my way down to here; especially enjoyed reading the recipes and learning a few tips there. I’m headed on over to your post about worm composing, but when I got down this far I had to leave a comment. I am so glad to read of someone else (besides me) who depends on the dragon flies to handle mosquitoes. I used to put Dunk in the little pool, but I have stopped doing that, because I suspect it also kills the dragon fly babies.
