Okay, we are approaching the time when you have to cover plants during overnight frosts. In the past, I’d gather all the old sheets and blankets I’ve stored in the garage. I would carefully place them over my tender favorite plants. Perfect…. right? …. wrong! The next morning, I find the wind blew half of them off during the night! Ugh! So the next night, I weigh them down with bricks, rocks, pieces of wood, you name it. Lots of work! Never mind the ficus tree. It is about 8 feet tall. I usually have to drag it sideways into the garage on those nights in winter where we get down into the 20’s. I wish I had a bag to cover my ficus and then tie it tight at the bottom. This way I could leave it outside! Because in Houston, within a few days it will be back in the 50’s or 60’s! Then I would have to drag the ficus outside again.
