Annie Leonard managed to fit a whole lot of information in 20 minutes but there’s still so much more! You can read the whole story by picking up a copy of her new book at your local bookstore or by ordering The Story of Stuff: How Our Obsession with Stuff Is Trashing the Planet, Our Communities, and Our Health-and a Vision for Change at Amazon. We also encourage you to donate a copy of the book to your local library so that those who can’t purchase the book themselves can still access all the great information in it!

Olive Barn Focusing on Internet Business

This week, we made a decision to close our retail store in Houston and convert it to a temporary clearance outlet. It was the only physical retail store we had, which was adjacent to our Houston warehouse. With the current economic conditions, we felt is was best to focus on our core business, selling on the web. That part of our business accounts for 90% of our sales, yet we were spending about 40% of our time attending to the Houston store. Simple math. Take the 40% of the time and plow it back into growing our ecommerce business.

Over the next week we will be liquidating the remainder of inventory from our Houston store that was not part of our web offerings. If you are in Houston, please sign up on our mailing list for the local mailings, to find out about dates and times for the outlet clearance sale.

You can sign up here. There will be some incredible buys.

To our previous store customers, we thank you for your past patronage and encourage you to shop online at www.olivebarn.com. We will continue to offer free customer pickup at our old store location.
